Guidance for Sailing at Hunts SC


Club Security.

On entering the club there are two gates secured with the combination locks for the two gates. Both locks are set to the codes detailed in your Hunts SC membership pack.

If you are last to leave the lake, it is important that you make sure that the clubhouse is fully locked up, that the external door to the toilets are locked.

Ensure both of the gates need to be closed and securely locked with the combination locks . Both locks are set to the codes detailed in your Hunts SC membership pack.

Keys to Gent’s changing room these are available from the Sailing Club club treasurer for a £10 deposit.

HRYC Kit

We have an equipment trunk located on the spit. Within this you can find the following; 

most of the kit required for the days sailing.

It is important to keep it closed, locked and tidy. the codes for this lock will be included in your joining letter from HRYC

Recovery boat.

Secured via a chain and combination padlock (code included in your HRYC joining letter), and ropes. The padlock is coupled the second padlock. Locked this way allows either us or the sailing club to unlock the boat by undoing either lock.

Inside the boat is a boathook for retrieving marks and model boats, a bilge pump for emptying rain water before use, storage bin, a trunk for mark weights and oars,  please ensure the boat cover and bin are replaced after use

Use of Recovery boat.

If using Electric outboard, once instruction received any member is able to use this, the boat should be manned by

1 person for close to shore work,

2 persons for anything further

Only RYA PB2 certificate holders can operate and helm using the petrol outboard.

Buoyancy Aids. MUST be worn when walking on the pontoon and in the recovery boat, therefore out of curtesy everyone should bring their BA to the spit

The anti-goose fences at the entrance to spit, must be put back in place at the end of sailing.

Modus Operandi for Kit

Recovery Boat

Before sailing, the boat will need to be uncovered, unlocked, untied and pulled onto the beach, the outboard motor and battery can now be fitted ready for use, please also attach the safety lanyard to the eye bolt with the caribou clip, After sailing the outboard motor and battery are to be removed and the rescue boat pulled to the starboard side of the pontoon, The cover is to be refitted and the boat secured using the rope and combination padlock provided. The combination lock should be linked through the standard padlock to enable HSC to move the rescue boat if required

Sat Crew

At the end of racing on Saturday, The outboard battery should be put onto charge after every use, please refer to the charging guide on the wall near the battery charger If in doubt, please ask!!

Mon Evening Crew

If used on Monday evening, please place the outboard battery on charge.

Weds Crew

If used on Weds afternoon, please place the outboard battery on charge.
