Following our AGM, we now plan to get as many club members involved in running the days racing as possible.
Over the last year your committee have fine tuned the following guidance, and everything you need should be located on this page
As the OOD you’ll act as a single Point of Contact (POC) for the racing day and would:
- Arrive earlier in order to get the day’s admin and racing organised both on and off the water. (pre 9.00am)
- Work with your allotted helper to ready the rescue boat and marks and set up any equipment for the days racing from the spit.
- Assess the prevailing conditions and set a course for the day,
- The OOD would run the first race and assign a Race Officer / Observer (ROO) from the assembled skippers for the following races when needed.
- At the end of racing or during the coffee break the OOD should allocate the jobs again to ensure everything gets packed away and put on charge etc.
A more detailed reference guide is now available for download below.
If this perhaps leaves you feeling a little daunted by what this might entail we would still like you to get stuck in, there will always be a Duty Officer (committee member) present on a Saturday morning, who will give guidance where needed.
If you have any questions or queries please let me know and I’ll try to sort any confusion.
Regards
Dave G
